BLOWING IN THE WIND

We've been experiencing some extreme winds for the past few days, so your charge today is simple. Write a bit of flash where the wind plays a MAJOR role. Give your best effort and blow us all away!

Conspiracy Theory

Who doesn't like to read about a possible conspiracy?  Lets take an event,  real or imagined and write up a conspiracy theory about how the event actually unfolded instead of how the mainstream media reported it.  Remember,  this is fiction so you don't have to worry about the risk of prosecution.

Snow Wraith

Is that blur a ghost, a snow wraith?  Or is it just a trick of light on a falling snowflake?  What do you see through your view finder?  Write a little Flashy Fiction about it.

The Scenic Route...

Sometimes it's just one scene you need to spark a story.

Maybe implement one of these scenes into your

Friday Flashy Fiction story today?!

A BIG BREAKTHROUGH

Today, you will write about your character's break through. It could be from a personal problem, a business proposal, or being accepted in their line of endeavor.

You need not punch through brick walls to make your point. You just need to find your stride.

Another Dimension

Time travel is possible.  Send your characters backward or forward in time or perhaps jump around through the milenia several times.

Nonviolent Protest

In honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose birthday was celebrated yesterday as a U.S. Federal holiday, write a little Flashy Fiction involving a character leading a nonviolent protest against something.  The story could center around one particular protest or about the leader and what compels him/her to lead the struggle...and why it's nonviolent.  Maybe you could take the point of view of the person/people the protests are targeting.

An Excerpt to Insert

The cold passed reluctantly from the earth, and the retiring fogs revealed an army stretched out on the hills, resting.

~The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

WE NEED A HERO

You are a super hero. You have your powerful persona and your secret identity. Keeping them separate is key. But today, you need a day off. The pressure of keeping up with your alter ego has worn you to a frazzle. Write about your "escape". Have a non- amazing day just for a change of pace.

"Look up in the air! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... what the hell is that? Write it.

Your ABC's

Today, you must include all 26 letters of the alphabet in your short fiction.  Good Luck.

Check Engine

The dreaded Check Engine light.  Dreaded because it doesn't really indicate what's wrong, just that you need to have your car checked out before something worse happens.  What if people came with check engine lights?  Maybe yours is already on.  Write a little Flashy Fiction about why your Check Engine light is on and what you're doing to fix it.  What's it going to take to get your motor back into tip top shape?

The only thing we have to fear...

Today, write about fear. Conquering it, or succumbing to it. What's your character's greatest fear? Or write about a feeling of impending doom...a test you're about to fail, or the end of the world.

The only thing we have to fear, is not writing. So buckle in, grab your pen, and scare up a good story today.

You're Not Alone!!

Warning: Not for faint of heart or germ-phobic individuals. :)

Herein you'll find some pretty creepy, (literally creeping), creatures.
Some true science-fiction style characters to spark the muse;
perhaps one will write from a different point of view
or create an entire imaginary world flavored by this short video clip.

Either way, have fun and you can thank me for your case of the heebeejeebies!!

Happy Friday Fiction Flashes everyone!

LEARNING TO FLY

We learn by watching. Studying movement and motion, with the notion that  flight equals freedom. Release your muse and soar with the birds. You've mastered the art of flight. Where does it take you?

Somewhere over the rainbow...

Be sure to include a rainbow in your fiction today.  If not a rainbow itself,  then make reference to a color or the colors you would see in a rainbow.

Best Friends

A Best Friend.  We've all had one at some point in our life.  A childhood friend, a brother or sister, maybe a mom or dad or other relative, college roommate, or just someone with whom we met and "clicked."  Write a bit of Flashy Fiction about your protagonist and his/her best friend or maybe a story about your protagonist's best friend as seen from your protagonist's view.

REBOOT

A new year, a new direction. A chance to begin again.
They say all endings are beginnings.
So logically, beginnings can be endings.
Write a story that begins with the ending,
and ends where it should have started.

And they lived happily ever after.... once upon a time!

Lucky Number

It is now 2013.  Thirteen has long been thought of as an unlucky number.  For our fiction today, however, thirteen is the luckiest of numbers.  See where the numerology will take you when 13 becomes lucky.

New Year Traditions

Black-eyed peas and country ham (and greens for some) are part of a New Years Day tradition here in the southern U.S.  What are your traditions?  Write a bit of Flashy Fiction about kicking off the new year.  Is it an established tradition, a new one, or just a one time thing?
