  2. The bones in the corner, the many, many bones in the corner, strewn across the middle of the floor, or piled against the far wall, testified to just how many had stood before this wall. Some were broken. Shattered. Some already turning to dust. I wondered which belonged to Dan.

    I picked up a shattered...femur maybe? and searched for a space to carve my own name. When I finished, I could barely read it. When I was finished, no one would ever know I'd been here.
