The Clock was Ticking...

5 comments:

  1. The clock was ticking.

    Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

It set the march of time.

    Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

The beat to which life progresses.

    Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

    Moment –

    Tick.

    By –

    Tick.

    Moment.

    Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

The steady dripping of life past my ears.

    Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

And then one day it changed.

    Tick-Tick . . . Tick. Tick-Tick . . . Tick.

No warning before, no explanation after.

    Tick-Tick . . . Tick. Tick-Tick . . . Tick.

    It just –

    Tick-Tick . . . Tick.

    Changed –

    Tick-Tick . . . Tick.

    Forever.

    Tick-Tick . . . Tick. Tick-Tick . . . Tick.

  2. Jim and Heather thought it would be romantic to climb to the top of the clock tower and look out upon the city.

Little did they know, that noise canceling headphones would be necessary. The constant loud ticking of the clock was unbearable.

On the way back down, Heather slipped and tumbled the rest of the way down the stairs, injuring herself badly.

Jim ran down and tried to comfort Heather. Heather said: "Don't touch me. This was your idea, and you should have checked it out first."

    Jim said: "What? Stop mumbling."

Heather heard, was not my fault, which caused her to cringe away and shut him out.

Moral: Make sure to check out what you think would be a romantic location, so you don't end up having to find another partner.

  3. The clock was ticking me off.

Damn thing hadn't worked since last week.

Looking on the bright side, though, it was still right twice a day.
