Friday Funkday

I walked through the parking lot, a weird tingling on the back of neck. I gripped my keys a litle tighter. Was... was someone following me?

My paced quickened, but the closer I got to my car, the more terrified I became. I was going to run for it. Just then, someone grabbed me.

My paced quickened, but the closer I got to my car, the more terrified I became. I was going to run for it. Just then, someone grabbed me. The grip was firm and ominous. I ventured a quick glimpse over my right shoulder. Blackness, nothing more, a faceless black shroud. Oh God, no. My chest. My hea...

"You the fellow that called 911?" the officer asked.

"Yeah...yes, I...uh, um...I'm Reynolds. David Reynolds. I worked with Miss Hartley." I answered distractedly.

"Do you know what happened?" the cop continued.

"We...uh, Shelly...Miss Hartley was going to give me a ride to our company Halloween party."
I offered, "I figured we could pool together and I wouldn't have to worry about imbibing too much".

"Miss Hartley was fine with that?" he persisted.

"Oh, yeah, Michelle was cool about being designated driver. She didn't drink, so it was a good fit."

"How was her demeanor; her state of mind?", the interrogator queried.

"She was a nervous sort. More so lately. Jumpy. Edgy. Lost in her own thoughts a lot." my observation found,

"I think she had forgotten about our arrangement. She seemed in a hurry to get to her car" I said, pointing to the dark blue Prius near the outer wall of the parking ramp.

"The Paramedics found no heart rhythm. They think it exploded in mid-beat. No pulse, no pressure." Officer Rollins said matter of factly.

"I was approaching from behind her, calling her name. She gave a quick glance back as I took hold of her shoulder."

"Did she say anything? Anything at all?" the officer wondered.

"It was something like: "Oh God, no. My chest. My hea...", Her eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed to the floor." I said in a frustrated voice. "Are there more questions?"

"Just one more Mr. Reynolds. Can you explain you attire?" Rollins asked.

"Like I said Officer, it was an office Halloween Party. It's my costume. I'm the Grim Reaper!" the words came rapidly.

Glancing over at the sheet draped gurney, Officer Rollins commented, "A little TOO grim for my taste, buddy!"

"Let's take a ride, Mr. Reynolds, There's a few more questions now that I think of it."

  4. Are you a little suspicious of Walt or... who, Deb?

I've had some suspicions about Walt from the beginning if we're going to come out and admit it. ;)
